Guardiola on Klopp’s departure: I have not run out of energy like him

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola expressed his surprise at Jurgen Klopp’s decision to leave Liverpool, and indicated that this matter would not affect his career leading the treble champions.

Klopp announced his departure from Liverpool at the end of this season after 9 years as coach of the Reds, and justified his decision by saying that he began to feel that he was “running out of energy,” even though his contract still extends until the summer of 2026.

When Guardiola was asked if he too was running out of energy, he replied, “No, I’m fine. I want to continue my job for another year and perhaps renew my contract with City.”

He continued, “Maybe I will sleep better now with Klopp gone. The day before the Liverpool match has always been a nightmare for me.”

He added, “He is the best opponent I have ever faced in my life. I wish him success, and I am confident that he will return again to the training field. I have no doubt about that.”

He concluded, “Every coach can understand the reasons that Klopp said, especially when you stay in the same team for a long time. The same thing happened to me with Barcelona.”

It is noteworthy that Klopp is the coach with the best record ever against Guardiola, as he succeeded in achieving wins against him in 12 matches, while suffering 11 defeats and drawing in 6 matches in all tournaments.
