Chelsea wants to fire Pochettino and identify his successor

The English media reported that the Chelsea management now wants to dismiss coach Mauricio Pochettino from his position.

According to what the Team Talk network said, the Argentine’s future is at stake, and voices calling for his departure have increased after the 4-2 defeat by Wolverhampton on Sunday.

The major crisis in Pochettino’s dismissal now remains finding a suitable replacement for him, which makes the most likely option to continue until the end of the season and then terminate his services.

The Chelsea administration is setting its sights on signing Xabi Alonso to succeed Pochettino, even if the task seems very difficult.

The Spanish coach has a long-term contract with Bayer Leverkusen, and there are many major clubs seeking him and their conditions seem better than the Blues, including his former club Liverpool.

If Pochettino is dismissed, he will be the third victim in the era of new American owner Todd Boyle, after dismissing Thomas Tuchel last season, then Graham Potter, and bringing in Frank Lampard as interim coach.

The English club has spent more than a billion pounds on new deals in the last two transfer markets, and yet the team is far from competing locally.

It is noteworthy that Chelsea occupies eleventh place in the English Premier League with 31 points, 13 points behind the first place to qualify for the Champions League.

The London club will play a confrontation against Liverpool at the end of this February, for the Carabao Cup final, and it may be completely decisive in Pochettino’s future.
