Ancelotti: Xavi does not have the same experience as me

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti praised his counterpart, Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez, but believes that the Catalan coach needs to gain experience in order to achieve achievements in his career.

Ancelotti’s statements came at the press conference for the upcoming El Clásico on Sunday in the Spanish Super Cup final, during which he rejected the idea that Real Madrid wanted “revenge” for last year’s defeat.

The Italian coach, when asked about Xavi, replied, “He is doing a great job, but it is true that he does not have the same experience as me. He has not worked as a coach for the same amount of time as I have. He is still young and needs to learn.”

He also added, “His career is good and being one of the best midfielders in the world helped him a lot. Now the situation is different, but this helps him.”

As for the idea of revenge, he replied, “No, we are fighting the match with all our might because this is what it takes when you wear this team’s shirt. Real Madrid does not need revenge. We respect our opponents.”

It is noteworthy that Ancelotti met Xavi Hernandez 8 times with Real Madrid, winning 4 of them and losing the same number.

The last two matches between the two teams resulted in a Royal victory, the first 4-0 at Camp Nou in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final, and the other 2-1 in the first round of this season in Catalonia as well.
