Ancelotti: I don’t like facing Atletico Madrid, and we have to respect Barcelona

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said that he does not favor facing Atletico Madrid, in light of the expected confrontation between them in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final on Wednesday.

Speaking to the media before the match, the Italian coach said, “Personally, I do not like playing against Atletico Madrid. It is a very complicated team, and I think the same applies to us.”

The only defeat that Real Madrid received this season was the derby match in the league, and Ancelotti commented on that, saying, “We have improved a lot since the last loss. We followed them well and we have a plan, and I am confident that we can show something different tomorrow.”

He also added, “Tomorrow’s match is important. We will try to do our best to achieve victory. The team has desire and enthusiasm, and I believe that we can play a good match against another team.”

When asked about Barcelona, which will face Osasuna in the other semi-final, and talk about its recent decline in performance, he replied, “Barcelona is always a strong competitive team. We have to respect them.”

Ancelotti refused to tell the press who will guard Real Madrid’s lair against Atletico Madrid, in light of the great competition between Kepa and Andriy Lunin.
