Ancelotti announces what Real Madrid will do with Modric next summer

Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid coach, announced that  Luka Modric has 100% the right to decide his fate whether to renew or leave the Royal Club next summer.

The Croatian international’s contract with Real Madrid expires at the end of this season, amid great interest from Saudi League clubs in acquiring the 39-year-old.

At the press conference for the Getafe match, Ancelotti spoke about Modric, saying, “Modric is a legend of Real Madrid and football in general. Only he will decide his fate next season.”

Ancelotti’s speech comes hours after the Cadena Ser report, which confirmed that Real Madrid does not mind renewing Modric’s contract for another year, but will leave the player the freedom to decide and will not put pressure on him.

Ancelotti responded to what was said to be a lack of respect for Modric by not participating significantly by saying, “He is a legend and has won five Champions League titles here.”

He also added, “He is 39 years old. I will not make him warm up if he will not participate. I can do that with young players like Guler, but not with Luka, and he realizes that.”
