After being close to Barcelona…the former United star went to an unexpected destination

Former Manchester United player Jesse Lingard is close to moving to South Korean club Seoul in the next few days.

After the end of Lingard’s contract with Nottingham Forest last summer, he did not join any club, although he was close to signing for the Saudi club Al-Ettifaq in recent months.

Lingard has been training in Dubai since the end of 2023, hoping to obtain a new opportunity, and it was said that he offered his services almost free of charge to the Barcelona administration.

Spanish media reported that Barcelona was seriously considering including Lingard due to his ability to play in midfield and replace Gavi, as well as the possibility of relying on him as a winger.

Ultimately, according to Fabrizio Romano, the 31-year-old will head to South Korea next week to visit FC Seoul and sign two-year contracts.

Lingard’s career has declined sharply in recent years, despite his good start with Manchester United, and his remarkable glow when he was loaned to West Ham, but since then he has lost his level and failed to present himself at Nottingham Forest.
