A new shock for Real Madrid… a long absence for Bellingham

Real Madrid announced in an official statement that Jude Bellingham suffered a severe sprain in his left ankle during the match against Girona on Saturday in the Spanish League.

The English international left the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium after only 57 minutes after spraining his ankle, in the match during which he scored two goals and led the Merengues to a wide victory with a score of 4-0.

Real Madrid’s statement did not announce the duration of Bellingham’s absence from the stadiums, but Spanish media reported that the player would need two to three weeks to be able to participate in training again.

Thus, Bellingham will miss the match against Leipzig in the first leg of the round of 16 of the Champions League, and the matches between Rayo Vallecano, Sevilla and Valencia in the Spanish League.

The 20-year-old’s biggest goal will be to catch the return match against Leipzig, scheduled for next March 6 at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

Bellingham joins Real Madrid’s injured list, which includes Eder Militao, David Alaba, Thibaut Courtois (cruciate ligament), and Antonio Rudiger, who is scheduled to return in the same time frame as the return of the former Borussia Dortmund star.

It is noteworthy that Jude is the top scorer for the Merengue this season, with 20 goals in 29 matches in all tournaments.
