A last-minute remontada overthrows Iraq and advances Jordan in Asian Cup

A very exciting summit was received at Khalifa International Stadium between Iraq and Jordan in the round of 16 of the Asian Cup, where “Al-Nashama” succeeded in achieving an exciting 3-2 victory.

After a series of wasted opportunities in the first half, the Jordanian national team was able to take the lead in the 46th minute through Yazan Al-Naimat.

The situation changed dramatically in the second half, as Iraq took control and tried to adjust, and after the brilliance of goalkeeper Yazid Abu Laila, Saad Natiq was able to decode Al-Nashama’s goal with a header in the 68th minute.

In the 75th minute, top scorer Ayman Hussein continued his favorite pastime and scored the second goal for Iraq.

At that moment came the shot that turned the match upside down, after the referee issued a second yellow card and then sent off Ayman Hussein, so Iraq completed the match with 10 players.

The madness began in the final minutes, and it started with Yazan Al-Arab’s success in equalizing Jordan in the 94th minute, then Nizar Al-Rashdan scored the victory goal for the Hussein Amouta Brigade with a shot in the 96th minute.

With this result, the Jordanian national team will meet the Tajikistan national team in the quarter-finals next Friday at the Ahmed Bin Ali World Cup Stadium.
