A firm response from Barcelona to Bayern Munich’s threat

Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, stressed that Ronald Araujo will not leave the Catalan club this winter or next summer, despite Bayern Munich’s great interest in including him.

Sky Sports had indicated that the German club was prepared to pay more than 70 million euros to sign the Uruguayan defender, whose contract with Barcelona extends until the summer of 2026.

Deco responded to this interest by saying, “We are not thinking about selling him. Araujo is not for sale.”

He also added, “He is one of the key players in Barcelona’s current project. He is very important for Barcelona’s future.”

He concluded, “We want him to be happy and this appears on him every day. There is nothing to talk about about a possible transfer.”

It is noteworthy that Araujo now wears the Barcelona leadership armband after becoming one of the most important members of Xavi Hernandez’s squad this season.

It should be noted that the Spanish media previously confirmed that there were negotiations to renew the player’s contract for a period longer than 2026, but they have been postponed at the present moment.
