The newspaper “Sport” reported in a report that Alejandro Balde is receiving great interest from 3 English clubs – Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea – to sign him in the upcoming summer transfer period.
Balde renewed his contract last September with Barcelona, to remain a player in the Catalan club until the summer of 2028, with a large release clause worth one billion euros.
Although everyone realizes that Balde is a valuable asset in Barcelona, the English clubs are watching him closely, specifically Chelsea, which is most interested in obtaining the services of the 20-year-old.
At the present moment, Barcelona considers Balde untouchable, even though Xavi Hernandez put him on the bench on more than one occasion and clearly expressed his dissatisfaction with his performance in some matches.
Barcelona informed Balde’s agent, Jorge Mendes, that Balde will not be sold in the summer, and that he is not among the list of players that the Catalan club wants to get rid of in the summer, closing the door, even temporarily, on the possibility of the left-back’s departure.
But at the same time, things may change in the coming months, given the stifling financial crisis that Barcelona is going through, and consequently it may need significant financing that will only come from selling one of its valuable assets, including Baldi.
In addition, Manchester City’s interest in the flying full-back may play a role in the Joao Cancelo deal, as Barcelona is determined to include the Portuguese but does not have the money, so exchanging the Spaniard for him, with the English club paying a sum, is an option that may actually be presented.
